The Unexpected Journey (2012)

The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)

Thror’s Regal Sword and Shield

Richard Armitage

About the character:

Thorin is a very brave and likeable character who plays a major role in the movies. By major I mean that the whole story basically revolves around him! XD After his home mountain, the lonely mountain, is taken by the dragon Smaug, he leads a band of dwarfs (and a burglar hobbit) to retrieve what is rightfully his. The quest is anything but easy, they have to face orcs, goblins, a skin-changer, giant spiders, elves, and the returning evil that was supposedly destroyed. Even though Thorin has his times of doubt and despair, he remains one of my favourite characters. He has several heroic moments which makes his death all the more tragic. He is killed by the white orc Azog shortly after taking back the lonely mountain and his farewell is so emotional and heartfelt that I’m going to put it on this post as my best Thorin moment…

About the actor:

Richard Armitage is a 45-year-old English actor. He has been active in his acting career from 1988-present. Other than the hobbit films, he has been in ‘North and South’ (no idea what that is but…)

      1. Haha, I was kidding. Remember we were talking about Irish actors?
North and South is alright I guess, it’s based in the Victorian era.
